Convicted terrorist preacher Abu Hamza “will die behind bars” after his attempt to return to Britain failed, a judge has declared.

After the hate preacher and ex-nightclub owner requested to be released on compassionate grounds, a judge ruled that the 66-year-old had posed a significant threat.

Nevertheless, the convict begged the judge to release him early, alleging that his jail conditions were inadequate.

Hamza was first convicted a decade ago in New York for his involvement in a 1998 kidnapping of 16 tourists in Yemen - four of whom died.

He was also convicted of conspiring to establish a militant training camp in Oregon the following year.

In an attempt to slip between the prison bars, Hamza - real name Mustafa Mustafa - wrote up a 76-page-long complaint file on his jail’s conditions.

His children said that their father was “one of the most intellectual and upright men you could come across”, attempting to support Hamza's case.

However, his latest attempt to dodge his prison sentence proved unfruitful after he was convicted of brainwashing jihad into his granddaughter.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Judge Torresto has said that Hamza would stay behind bars for the remainder of his life.

She said that she was not fully convinced that the man had a “change of heart” since the terror offences were carried out almost 30 years ago, adding that he was likely to “support and inspire others to acts of violence”.

The rejection caused the convict to become “furious” and has since appealed the decision, it was reported.

His lawyers have argued that prison staff neglected the convicted terrorist who is being reprimanded in solitary confinement.

In a statement, they said: “As a result of the lack of accommodations and care, Mr Mostafa has lost almost all of his teeth, suffers from multiple infections, and has consistently been without the medical care considered reasonable to any civilised society.”

Speaking in an attempt to approve his father’s appeal, his son Imran Mostafa Kamel claimed that he “desperately needed” his father’s “presence, love, and unwavering support”.

He said: “To witness his reunion with our precious grandchildren and to enjoy quality time together as a family would be a dream come true.”

Hamza’s wife Najat Chaffe said: “Our family has been deeply distressed by his absence, as he has left an irreplaceable void that no one can fill.”
