A 12-year-old girl in Aberdeen has been taken to hospital after she was “stabbed” at a secondary school.
Emergency services were called to Hazlehead Academy earlier this morning following reports of an incident involving a knife.
She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by her parents, where it is understood she required stitches.
Police Scotland confirmed an investigation is under way and that they are “following a positive lead”.

The force reassured locals that there is no threat to the wider community.
A pupil who witnessed the incident told the Daily Record that they saw children “screaming” and a “girl with blood on her face”.
“Teachers said afterwards it wasn’t a stabbing but some of my friends said they saw a knife,” they said.
A police spokesman said: “At 10.30am on Thursday, 24 April, 2025, we received a report of a 12-year-old girl injured. She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“Inquiries are ongoing but officers are following a positive lead. This was a contained incident and there is no risk to the wider school community.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Hazlehead Academy this morning. As a result, a pupil was injured.
“The pupil was collected by their parents and taken for medical treatment. The incident is now over.
“Police were alerted and are carrying out inquiries. We cannot comment further at this stage.”

PAA message from the school was sent out to concerned parents. It read the same as the council’s but went on to “reassure parents that all appropriate steps have been followed and support offered.”
Local councillor and education convener Martin Greig told the Press and Journal: “The school is doing all it can to deal with this horrible incident.
“They will be following our guidance and policies to make sure everyone is as safe as possible.”
