Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were last seen heading towards the River Dee

Detectives investigating the disappearance of two sisters in Scotland have announced that there has been a new sighting of the pair.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were last seen at 2am on January 7 in Aberdeen as they were seen going towards a river in freezing temperatures.

However, new footage shows the sisters at the same spot almost 12 hours earlier on January 6.

They were caught on camera carrying rucksacks and visiting the River Dee in daylight.

Officers are wanting to hear from anyone who may have had some interaction with them and may be able to shed some light on their behaviour during the visit on the afternoon of Monday, January 6.

Superintendent David Howieson said: "We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements.

"Several hours of footage are being examined by a dedicated team of officers and we have so far established that Eliza and Henrietta were at the footpath next to the River Dee at 2.50pm on Monday, January 6, 2025.

"Although the sisters didn't engage with anyone else at this time, the area would have been busy and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them.

SI Howieson added: "Please think back, did you notice anyone matching their description?

“After returning home, there is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee."

Henrietta had texted their landlady as they made their late-night journey, sending a message at 2.12am that they would not be returning to their city centre pad. After that the phone either disconnected or was destroyed but hasn’t been used since.

Their landlady was so worried about the time of text that she visited the apartment hours later. When she spotted some of the sisters’ belongings, including a mobile phone, she raised the alarm.

Superintendent David Howieson said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.

“We have had a positive response from the public to our appeals and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward.

"I would again urge anyone with any information which could help find Eliza and Henrietta to get in touch."
