Supermarket chains, including Tesco, are reducing prices on must-have grocery products

Tesco has announced it is slashing the price of more than 150 of its most popular everyday items.

The supermarket is cutting the cost of many products by an average of 12.5 per cent which may well help families with their weekly shop.

This latest wave of price reductions come following the news Tesco is offering Clubcard customers double points until February 25.

Instead of customers earning one Clubcard point for every £1 they spend, they will instead receive two points which can go towards reducing the cost of their shopping basket or to rewards.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco Group’s chief commercial officer, Ashwin Prasad, cited the cost of the holiday season as to why supermarket is reducing prices now.

He said: “After the expense of Christmas, January can really stretch family budgets and families are looking for great value more than at any other time.

“By focusing our price cuts on truly popular items, customers will find it’s even easier to spend less at Tesco.”
