Shoppers have until next week to redeem helpful money-saving vouchers

Shoppers who have a Tesco Clubcard are being warned they have just one week to use their valuable points – or they will risk losing them.

Nearly £16 million worth of Clubcard points are due to expire after February 28.

Clubcard points can only be redeemed within two years, so those which were first accredited in February 2021, must be claimed by next week.

The popular loyalty card, which launched in 1995 and has more than 20 million users in the UK as of 2021, can be used online or in-store.

The points scheme offers vouchers for shoppers, with 150 points equalling £1.50 to spend at Tesco.

The money saving help also extends to the petrol forecourts, as well as be used with other outlets at the triple the value with the likes of Pizza Express and Cineworld involved.

Customers who have a Tesco mobile can also use the vouchers off their bill.

Speaking to The Sun, Tesco’s Tash Whitmey said: "With more than £16m worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of February, we’re reminding customers to spend them in what can be a tough time of year."

In company news, Tesco said that its shop workers would get a 7 per cent pay rise to a minimum of £11.02 an hour.

The pay rise is the third in 10 months, and will mean an investment of £230 million for the business. The changes will be implemented from April 2.

It will bring pay investment to a record £450 million over the past year after previous increases.

The retailer said the new minimum pay rate for store workers will take place from April 2 to “reflect the increasing costs our colleagues are currently facing”.

The supermarket giant said its latest pay increase, which followed discussions with the Usdaw union, is also on top of investment into free food for staff in store canteens, a salary advance scheme and a discount of up to £1,500 a year off shopping.
