If someone is in this situation, they should expect to be paid their state pension on Friday, August 23, 2024.

This means many pensioners will get paid earlier than expected.

When someone's DWP payment date is not on a bank holiday, they will get their pension on the date they expect as nothing will change.

Government guidance states: "Benefits are usually paid straight into your bank, building society or credit union account.

"If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you'll usually be paid on the working day before. This may be different for tax credits and Child Benefit."

This upcoming August 26 Bank Holiday is the last official non-festive Bank Holiday of the year.

The next official Bank Holidays coming up are Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
