Premium Bonds do not offer a guaranteed return and one person's luck doesn't mean others will also win
A saver who has had £135 in Premium Bonds for less than eight months is now £100,000 richer, the January 2024 prize draw results show.
While Premium Bonds do not offer savers a guaranteed return, the Hertfordshire-based winner will no doubt be delighted with the windfall.
NS&I keeps details about the winners private, but the government-backed savings provider has announced the Winning Bond is 541AX481947.
This winner isn’t the only person to win a high value prize within months of purchasing the winning bond.
Premium Bonds savers can check if they have won via the NS&I Premium Bonds prize checker app or website

A saver from West Sussex, who holds £50,000 in Premium Bonds, bought the 559SS293434 Bond in November last year, and has scooped £100,000 this month.
Another person, who has a holding of just £200, won £100,000 with the Winning Bond 141QY359028. This saver, from Essex, bought it in August 2008.
A total of 5,843,447 prizes worth more than £475million will be paid out from this month’s prize draw.
It includes two payouts of £1million and 91 prizes with a value of £100,000.
Additionally, 182 savers won £50,000 this month, among the other prizes up for grabs.
One of this month’s jackpot winners bought their Winning Bond, 546JZ698132, last year in July 2023.
However, NS&I warns Premium Bonds are not the right choice for savers who want a regular income and/or guaranteed returns or are concerned about inflation.
The odds of winning are 21,000 to one for every £1 Bond in the monthly draw (variable).
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Speaking earlier this week, Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: “Congratulations to our first millionaires of 2024 from Warwickshire and Nottingham - a wonderful way to welcome the New Year in.
“The quickest way to check if you have won a prize is to use our Premium Bonds prize checker app, check online, or even ask Alexa from the second working day of each month onwards.
“New Year is also a good time to check that NS&I has your up-to-date details and to get winnings paid straight into your bank account, so that any of your prizes don’t go unclaimed this year.”
