NS&I said this month’s Premium Bonds jackpot winners come from the Hereford and Worcester area and Essex.

NS&I has updated the Premium Bonds prize checker for the August 2023 prize draw today, allowing people to see if they have won this month.

They can check this in three ways – via the prize checker on the website, the official prize checker app or an Alexa-enabled device.

Savers will need their Premium Bonds holder’s number to use the nsandi.com prize checker and their NS&I number or holder’s number for the app.

Premium Bonds holders can also use these tools to check for any unclaimed prizes owed to them.

It could be worth checking too, considering, as there are currently 2,300,822 unclaimed prizes worth £80,254,250.

There are five £100,000 prizes currently unclaimed, NS&I said.

While NS&I notifies savers when they win a prize, sometimes people move or change their contact details without updating the government-backed savings provider.

If Premium Bonds holders have opted to receive their prize by cheque, this can lead to unclaimed prizes.

August 2023’s jackpot winners scooped £1million each, and NS&I revealed these savers are from Hereford and Worcester and Essex.

While they will have received a visit from Agent Million, there are plenty of people in these locations who are unaware of their good fortune.

In Hereford and Worcester, for instance, there are 19,033 unclaimed prizes worth £668,775 – including a £100,000 payout from the August 2014 prize draw.

The oldest unclaimed prize in this area is from August 1965 – with the winner seemingly unaware they scooped £25.

There are a substantial 50,596 unclaimed prizes with a total value of £1,530,625 in Essex, NS&I said.

This includes two prizes worth £10,000 each, won in the December 2007 and March 2016 prize draws.

In Essex, the oldest unclaimed prize is from February 1964, and it’s worth £25.

NS&I says the best way to ensure savers get their winnings is to opt for prizes to be automatically paid directly into their bank account or reinvested into more Premium Bonds.
