Premium Bond savers have the opportunity to win up to £1million thanks to the NS&I's prize draw

National Savings and Investment (NS&I) has confirmed details for the Premium Bond winners for June 2024.

Unlike regular savings accounts, bond holders do not receive additional interest but are instead enrolled into a prize draw to have the opportunity to win tax-free prizes of up to £1million.


Who won the £1million Premium Bonds prize?

Every month, only two luck individuals get to receive the top prize amount of £1million from NS&I's lottery.

However, there are other sums of money up for grabs, including amount of £100,000, £50,000 and £25,000.

The first Premium Bonds winner is from Southampton who had the winning bond number 352QK018542, valued at £24,000, which was purchased in February 2019. This winner had an overall holding of £50,000.

Joining this bond holder is another £1million prize winner from Surrey with bond number 294DL518203, which is valued at £9,200 and purchased in January 2017. The Surrey winner also had an overall holding worth £50,000 with NS&I.

How many Premium Bonds prizes were won for June 2024?

Despite only two people being eligible to claim the top prize, millions of Britons are set to receive a cash boost thanks to Premium Bonds this month.

Some 71 individuals have won the second-place prize of £100,000 through the financial institution's savings product. Furthermore, 141 Britons have claimed the £50,000 prize from NS&I

Overall, there was a total of 5,909,748 prizes worth £455,050,550 will be paid out for this month's prize.. There were 124,104,692,592 Bond numbers eligible for Premium Bonds lottery in June 2024.

How to check if you have won a Premium Bonds prize?

Earlier today, a full list of the winning bond numbers for June 2024 was published on NS&I's website.

Bond holders are urged to check their account through the financial institution's website to see if they have won any tax-free cash.

Premium Bonds savers will need to have their bond number to use NS&I's prize checker.

This can be found on a holder's bond record or through National Savings and Investment's app.

Experts have cited Premium Bonds as being a useful savings tool for Britons amid the cost of living crisis, especially for pensioners.

Henrietta Grimston, director of Financial Planning at Evelyn Partners, explained: "That is a very handy tax-free return but an individual holder might do worse or better with their annual prize haul.

"Many savers like the fact that they have a chance of winning a big potentially life-changing prize while still receiving smaller prizes, and that bonds are essentially 'easy access'.

"It can be an attractive option for those who are using up their personal savings allowance, and can’t or don’t want to use their ISA allowance for cash savings."

The annual prize fund rate for Premium Bonds is currently sitting at 4.4 per cent.
