Nationwide Building Society has offered a £100 Fairer Share bonus to eligible customers for two consecutive years

Nationwide could give millions of customers a £100 Fairer Share payment in 2025.

While there's no guarantee, Debbie Crosbie, the mutual’s chief executive recently said they were “well positioned” to repeat a Fairer Share payment to qualifying customers.

In recent years, Nationwide has distributed profits to its members through the £100 Fairer Share payment for eligible individuals.

Since its introduction in 2023, the building society has paid over £700 million to customers.

Nationwide has 16 million members, but fewer than four million were eligible for the Fairer Share payment in 2024.

In May 2024, members who did not use Nationwide for their everyday banking as of March 31 were presented with a £200 Member Exclusive Current Account Online Switch Offer.

The scheme typically rewards members who use Nationwide for everyday banking alongside savings or mortgages.

Those hoping to receive the bonus this year are being urged to act quickly to maximise their chances.

While not guaranteed, financial experts at Money Saving Expert (MSE) suggest the building society is "likely" to offer the payment again.

Members need to keep their accounts open until at least March 31 to be considered for the payment, according to MSE advice.

Account activity within the first three months of 2025 is also crucial for eligibility.

The March 31 deadline has been consistent in previous years, with Nationwide checking member eligibility on this specific date. Most payments in 2024 were made between June 13 and June 28, following a similar pattern to previous years.

MSE emphasises that acting before the March deadline is essential for those hoping to receive the £100 bonus.

Eligibility criteria vary depending on account type, with specific requirements for each.

FlexAccount, FlexBasic, and FlexDirect customers must either make at least two payments out of their account and have £500 paid in across two of the first three months of 2025, or make 10 or more payments during this period.

The 10-payment option was part of the 2024 criteria but not used in 2023.

For FlexPlus packaged accounts, simply paying the monthly fee is sufficient.

FlexOne, FlexGraduate, and FlexStudent account holders need only make a single payment in or out during March 2025.

Qualifying payments include debit card transactions, Direct Debits, and bank transfers, but not transfers between Nationwide accounts.

Beyond account activity, members must also have at least £100 in savings with Nationwide or owe at least £100 on a Nationwide mortgage by March 2025.

This additional requirement was part of previous eligibility criteria, according to MSE.

When the scheme launched in 2024, Nationwide explained: "Members will need a qualifying current account plus either qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage."

The building society confirmed members "would have needed to meet this criteria when we last checked on 31 March."

MSE emphasises these requirements are based on previous years with "no guarantees" for 2025.

When launched in 2024, Nationwide described the Fairer Share Payment as "our way of rewarding those members who choose us for their everyday banking."

While the building society hasn't confirmed the 2025 payment, the consistent pattern suggests similar timing this year.
