Nationwide customers are being urged to take note as the UK’s largest building society prepares for a major shake-up at select branches next month.
With changes set to take effect from April 14, 2025, those who rely on in-person banking may need to rethink their visit plans.
Nationwide has announced changes to branch opening days that will affect several high street locations.
Some branches currently close for one day midweek instead of opening five days a week.
From April 14, these midweek closure days will shift to different days, and some branches will also have adjusted opening hours.
In most cases, Nationwide is keeping branches closed on Mondays and opening them other days in the week.
A Nationwide spokesperson said: "We remain committed to our branch promise that everywhere we have a branch we will remain until at least the start of 2028.
"We continually review branch opening days and hours based on customer demand and we are pleased to be increasing opening hours overall."
The spokesperson added that customers can check individual branch opening hours through the branch finder on Nationwide's website.
Nationwide Building Society is changing opening hours
NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETYThe building society has maintained its commitment to keeping branches open despite the trend of closures across the banking sector.
Nationwide's branch promise ensures that locations will remain open until at least the beginning of 2028.
The changes appear to be part of an ongoing review of customer usage patterns rather than a reduction in service.

Nationwide Building Society updated all of its branches branding in 2024
NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETYThe changes at Nationwide come as other banks are also adjusting their high street presence.
There are still several ways for individuals to access basic banking services without needing to travel to another town with a branch. The Post Office’s 11,684 branches provide access to essential banking tasks, although they do not offer services such as opening new accounts, personal loans, or mortgages.
Customers can locate their nearest Post Office branch by visiting postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder.
Additionally, many banks operate mobile banking services, bringing banking buses to different areas to provide services typically available at physical branches.
Some banks also use community spaces, such as village halls or libraries, to offer mobile banking facilities.
