A woman has been able to save over £5,000 by opting for car sharing services over committing to owning her own vehicle.
Fatima decided to sell her car after relocating to London from Birmingham.
Fatima realised that living in London and owning a car can cause massive cost pressures which she wasn’t used to while she was living in Birmingham.
She was forking out £2,000 a year just for a parking space in her area, on top of other car expenses such as insurance and road tax.
Fatima sold her car three years ago and has since saved over £5,000 using a peer-to-peer car-sharing service.
She told GB News: “Having a car in London isn’t cheap and public transport here is so reliable so I just thought it was necessary to sell my car.

“Day to day I don’t need a car, however now and then I will need to do long-distance trips to see my family in Birmingham and I’ll go at least once a month minimum.
“So, I started hiring cars at least once a month for convenience from car rental companies which could cost me about £200 a day for a car.
“But after discovering Turo, a peer-to-peer car hire, I was shocked to see how cheap the car hire prices were.
“I could get a vehicle for like £30 a day, which is a massive saving compared to other places which could charge me up to £200 plus a deposit or pending charge. With Turo, you don’t need that.”
Fatima has been using Turo for about two years and appreciates the wide variety of options available.
She can pick and choose whether she wants a higher-end car or not, which in turn means keeping the vehicle hire costs within her budget.
Fatima continued: “To put an actual figure on the amount I’ve saved feels amazing because that is a lot of money.
“I’m quite close to my finances and I knew I had major savings compared to other years.
“It felt really good to know I’ve saved over £5,000. It saves not only money, but it helps the planet.
