Households in Northern Ireland are paying the least in electricity compared to the rest of the UK, according to experts from energy company Grant Store.
The price of electricity bills differ depending on where someone lives in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Here is a breakdown of the regions in the UK which are paying the most towards their energy bills, according to experts:
- Merseyside & North Wales – average electricity bill of £1,357
- South Scotland – average electricity bill of £1,330
- London – average electricity bill of £1,293.
Analysts are Grant Store cited Merseyside and North Wales’s industrial legacy and geographic location as an influence on energy costs and consumption patterns.

Furthermore, South Scotland’s combination of rural and urban areas, as well as infrastructure challenges, led to hiked prices.
With its dense urban population, London’s enormous energy consumption and investment contributed to electricity bills going up.
Here is a breakdown of the regions in the UK which are paying the least towards their energy bills, according to experts.
- Yorkshire – average electricity bill of £1,216
- East Midlands – average electricity bill of £1,208
- Northern Ireland – average electricity bill of £1,103.
Those living in Yorkshire were found to have a comparatively lower average bill compared to other parts of the UK.
Residents in the East Midlands incurred average electricity costs of a similar amount to Yorkshire**, with its mix of** urban and rural parts impacting the region’s consumption patterns.
However, people living in Northern Ireland were revealed as to have the lowest electricity bills in the analysis, due to its unique market structure and diverse energy sources, such as renewables.
According to the experts from Grant Store, households wanting to upgrade energy systems in their home but struggling to manage costs may want to consider the eco4 scheme.
They said: “This initiative offers crucial financial support for energy-efficient upgrades, especially beneficial for low-income households and vulnerable individuals.
“With eco4, eligible homeowners can access funding for essential improvements such as insulation, heating upgrades, and renewable energy installations.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
“By covering these costs, eco4 makes energy efficiency investments more attainable, easing the burden of electricity bills."
Those interested in applying for this Government grant can apply via the eco4 website.
Between April 1 to June 30, the energy price cap will be set at £1,690 per year for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit.
This is £238 lower than the energy price cap set between the beginning of the New Year to the end of March.
