With this in mind, Restless has curated a list of the best places to retire in the UK – both in cities and the countryside.
Devon, Plymouth could be the ideal retirement spot for those who enjoy harbourside cafes and restaurants, historic pubs, parks and churches.
House prices averaged around £241,000 over the past year, with some properties enjoying a gorgeous sea view.
Plymouth also has a relatively low crime rate for a city of its size, and there’s plenty to keep people occupied like plenty of cinemas and sports clubs.
York has local landmarks and is steeped in history. The city centre is traffic-free, giving it a more relaxed vibe than some other busy metropolises.
York is a great place to live if retirees want to experience the best of both city and country life. It also has a low crime rate compared to the rest of North Yorkshire. However, house prices average around £349,000.
Swansea could be perfect for retirees who like the beach and want to be amongst nature during their later years.
The average house price in Swansea is approximately £200,000, making it one of the UK’s more affordable cities.
