Trump just moved to ‘make American children safer’- is it time for Britain to wake up?

The President-elect promised to end gender realignment practices like puberty blockers and genital surgery
President-elect Donald Trump wants to ‘make American children safer’ by protecting them from ‘woke ideology’ that suggests they could be trapped in the wrong body, prompting some commentators to call for Britain to follow suit.
The Republican leader pledged to ban doctors from medically transitioning children, something he called ‘child abuse’ and ‘child sexual mutilation’.
Trump opposes all physical, chemical and emotional methods employed to change a child’s gender, like puberty blockers, realignment surgery and gender fluidity promotion.
He has said he will issue an Executive Order on day one to stop all programmes that promote the idea of sex and gender transition, stop taxpayer dollars promoting and paying for these procedures, and pass a new law banning child sexual mutilation in all fifty states.
The President-elect has expressed desire to assist people unhappy with their gender realignment to sue the doctors who transitioned them, while also promising ‘severe consequences’ for schools nudging children down the path of gender realignment.
Trump famously employed the slogan "Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you,” during his election campaign which appeared to resonate with many American voters.
Commentators in Britain like Matt Goodwin have labelled Trump’s landslide election win a ‘relief’ because it will make American children ‘safer than they were before the election.’
Goodwin, a former academic turned commentator and author, wrote on his Substack: “Imagine the conversation between Donald Trump, who is now rapidly moving to ban radical gender ideology in schools, and our own hapless Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who believes 1 in every 1,000 women has a penis.
“I’ll always be eternally grateful to the American people for making this decision and let’s just hope it has major ripple effects across the Pond.”
Goodwin also tweeted: “Trump has declared war on radical gender ideology and the abuse of our children.
“Note to hapless British conservatives. This is what you should have done instead of mainstreaming woke ideology.”
This comes as the gender identity continues to grip Britain, with emotive issues like gender separation in prisons, single sex changing rooms and women’s sport dominating headlines, as well as the teaching of gender identity concepts in school.

Critics argue allowing someone to identify as another gender impacts on sex-based rights, namely women, endangering their safety and security in settings like a prison.
Supporters believe it is essential to allow trans people the same rights and opportunities to be accepted in society.
This comes after a rape centre in Scotland announced it will not be part of Rape Crisis Scotland after its CEO said there’s no reason why transgender women can’t work in women’s rape centres last week.
Julie Bindell, Telegraph columnist, said of transgender women not being allowed to work in the rape centre: “It beggars belief that women have to now fight through potential controversy and cancellation for something that, only 10 years ago, was an inalienable right.”
Many commentators have also called for more understanding and less polarisation in the gender debate, highlighting how many people feel scared to contribute for fear of cancellation.
