Farage and Candy revealed in a statement that there were also "ongoing discussions in other areas" with the X and Tesla chief. Reform MP Lee Anderson talked about the potential impact of the endorsement on GB News saying "It's not just Elon Musk that will be great for us, but that knock-on effect will be."

With a potential $100million windfall coming to Reform courtesy of Musk, GB News Members voiced their opinions through our inbox and across our site on the donation that could cause political shockwaves.

Phoebe W was delighted at the prospect of a Musk donation to Reform saying "Elon Musk is using his power to protect free speech. He doesn’t ban people from criticising him on his own platform because, like all great men/ women, he has nothing to be ashamed of. He is happy to answer difficult questions with intelligence and conviction. Love him!"

Peter Sitch questioned the opposition to the funding and said "The Left wouldn't be in the slightest worried if this money was going to Labour, becauseit's Reform they're panicking. Only worried about 'individuals' not bloc money from the Unions?"

On the motivations behind the support Mike Withington added "Musk.......a donation is a donation. No reason why people should think strings should be attached. He is a successful, wealthy businessman with exactly the same mindset as the people he wants to donate to. If the Conservatives were ACTUAL conservatives.....he would probably keep his money in his pocket. About time politics were distorted in this country. It needs a bloody good shake up."

Wendy Pye-Smith pushed back against detractors of the backing saying "The appalling progressive attack on free speech by the left is all you need to know. Freedom of speech is NUMBER ONE! Good luck to Trump, Elon Musk and Nigel Farage. This blah blah of the woke left and their denial of facts and science is truly evil. These lefties do not have a leg to stand on."

Andy M embraced the disruption and said "Farage, Candy and Musk are tearing the political walls down between the public and parliament. Parliament must serve the majority of the public, not an antiquated contrived unrepresentative system designed to imprison real democracy."

Questioning the skepticism behind any donation Chris HG said "They are all running scared. Elon Musk has never claimed that he created electric vehicles to save the world. It was for him purely a business opportunity that he exploited and it's made him an extremely wealthy man. To claim that Reform should not be allowed to take a donation from Elon Musk because foreign donors are not allowed to donate to political parties is wholly disingenuous. They've all been finding ways round the electoral rules for years!"

Daokrajai suggests past EU interference in the UK and points out "Our politics have been influenced by a foreign power, in fact controlled by one since 1972. The EU acted against our interests for all that time. Musk is not acting against our interests at all. What is now the problem? Perhaps Labour know they are going to sink without trace at the next election - if they last that long..."

Bernadette Page suggested fear of Reform UK amongst the goverment commenting "Labour are scared to death of Reform, so much so they are going to attempt to change the rules regarding donors supporting political parties. Starmer and his cronies had no problems with it while they were on the receiving end of the money and freebies. It's so hypocritical, it's hilarious. Has Milliband given any clarity on the £90.000 donation yet by the way?"

Andrew Key is all for the cash boost to Reform saying "Financial contributions to Reform UK. Great. What do they want in return? I still cling to the hope of altruistic intent. This is the country's last attempt to come back before we go past the point of no return. GENERAL ELECTION NOW."

Jennie Wren discusses Labour staff members contributing to the Democrat US election campaign pointing out "If Musk giving a donation is wrong then let’s have Labour prove that every single person who they mustered to go help campaign in the US paid for everything themselves, because it’s obvious it’s one rule for us another for them."

Chaos may ensue if the donation is blocked as Catherine Baker suggests "Don't you think Farage knows what would happen if Musk donated - which he hasn't done by the way. If the others stop this then Pandoras Box will be well and truly opened on all the mainstream parties."
