A record number of experienced officers are quitting UK policing, with former Home Secretary Suella Braverman claiming that this is due to a "failure of leadership at the top".
Her comments come as South Australia Police launch a campaign to recruit hundreds of disillusioned British bobbies, with a delegation arriving in the UK this week for a series of recruitment sessions in key cities over the next fortnight.
There has already been keen interest, as increasing numbers of British officers leave the service, citing low morale, poor pay and conditions, and a lack of respect.
Braverman told GB News she believes people are turning their back on the force due to leadership "failures", as well the intuition becoming “paralysed to a large degree by bureaucracy and paperwork".
She said that whilst she understands why British police officers are "going through a crisis of confidence", the loss of coppers on the street is "very worrying".
"We won't have the police officers to respond to violent incidents, to riots, we won't have the resource to be deployed when there are problems."
