GB News members are being asked if Donald Trump has underestimated the anti-American business backlash

The US President has imposed 10 per cent tariffs on the UK, alongside a worldwide 25 per cent tariff on all foreign-made cars.

Following the announcement on Wednesday, Jaguar Land Rover said it would be halting shipments of its British-made cars to the US as the repercussions of Donald Trump’s tariffs continue to impact the global economy.

Beginning next week, one of Britain’s largest carmakers will pause shipments while it figures out how to manage the cost of the 25 per cent import tariff imposed by the US President.

This month-long suspension is part of a broader set of actions the Indian-owned carmaker - which employs 38,000 people in the UK - is taking to assess the damage caused by Trump’s trade war.

Earlier today, thousands of anti-Trump protesters descended upon Trafalgar Square in London, as well as various other locations around the world.

The demonstrations came after the President unveiled sweeping global tariffs which sent financial markets reeling amid growing fears of a worldwide trade war.

Elon Musk, a White House insider, expressed he hopes the tariffs imposed on the UK and Europe will only be temporary, and said today that he hopes in the future there will be a "zero-tariff zone" between Europe and America.

Musk told Italy's deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, that he hoped that the US and Europe could create a "very close, stronger partnership" and reach a "zero-tariff zone" and a "free-trade zone".
