Immigration is 2024's number one issue for millions of voters

2024 is set to be a mega year for British politics, with a General Election almost certain to take place within the next twelve months.
When it comes to the top issues for voters, new polling has revealed what the top concerns are for those in this country.
Whilst some often ignore what the public care about, GB News has always served to reflect a range of voices and opinions whilst crucially serving as The People's Channel.
The reason so many in Westminster were shocked by Brexit was because they had become solely fixated on what the metropolitan bubble set were obsessed with, rather than what citizens of this country more widely actually care about and think.
So YouGov's latest research, conducted in recent days, is important in revealing what the concerns are for the public as we start this year.
Following a population surge fuelled by mass immigration over many years, it isn't surprising to see housing rocket up the political agenda.
As YouGov explain: "Housing as a national 'top issue' is up 8pts to 25% since the beginning of last year, making it the issue where concern has grown most - immigration is also up 7pts to 39%."
Whilst on the other hand YouGov revealed that: "The economy is down 9pts, although remains the most common top issue at 53%."
Health was also down as an issue for voters but still ranks second, considered a top issue by 45% of voters, down 5 points.
In contrast immigration has surged up by 7 points as 39% of voters now consider it a top issue as we start 2024.
When you delve into these figures further though you find that for many, immigration is now the defining issue.
Amongst Conservative voters only, immigration is considered an important issue by 65% of those surveyed, ahead of even the economy (55%) and health (45%).
And when it comes to Leave voters, immigration once again tops the political agenda with 64% of Brexiteers considering it to be an important issue facing the country.
With the Government having allowed record-high legal net migration and the stream of illegal migrant boats continuing to cross from France, this issue will clearly be top of the agenda at the next election.
As Rishi Sunak's Conservatives attempt to defy the national polls and win another majority with Reform UK breathing down their neck, politicians of all parties will find it hard to ignore the public pressure for answers when it comes to immigration, both legal and illegal.
