After Reform UK's recent press conference, the party's Deputy Leader has revealed his motivation in standing for Parliament
Reform UK's Joint Deputy Leader Ben Habib has vowed to battle for a "new British settlement" after declaring his intention to stand in the forthcoming Wellingborough by-election.
Yesterday's Reform UK press conference saw Habib confirm that he would stand to become a Member of Parliament at the election.
And explaining his decision in an exclusive statement to GB News, Habib explained his motivation to stand.
The former MEP explained: "I am delighted to be standing as the Reform UK candidate in the forthcoming by election in Wellingborough.
"Like so many, the good people of Wellingborough have been let down by successive governments.
"They voted for a new social contract with Brexit but got failed progressive socialism instead.
"With only a few exceptions, Parliamentarians have stood in the way of Brexit and the massive benefits it would have yielded for our country.
"At its heart the vote for Brexit was a plea for help to overcome the shackles of ever higher regulation and taxes.
"It was a demand to reclaim our democracy and for policies to be made with our national interests in mind.
"Instead the government has preferred toeing the EU’s line rather than delivering for the people of our isles.
"The policies of Reform put first the country and the working and middle classes. They secure our borders and our territorial integrity. They champion British businesses. Reform UK stands for the UK.
"I will do my very best to be elected and deliver to my constituents and the country their plea for a new British settlement."
