Weetabix has sparked uproar after it revealed the correct way to eat its wheat breakfast biscuits.
The popular food processing subsidiary created a social media frenzy after releasing an 11-second video in response to ex-Top Gear host James May.
May, 60, appeared perplexed after finding out some Britons put milk in the bowl before the cornflakes.
He added: “Just seen this happen and it disturbed me.”

Weetabix replied with the correct way to eat the wheat breakfast biscuits, adding: “We will always put the milk in first”.
The video showed a cereal bowl with milk poured in before a wheat brick is delicately placed on top.
May responded by calling the brand “lunatics”.
A Twitter user asked: “How do you know how much milk to put in the bowl?”

A third quipped: “Quite clearly you’ve never watched any of your own adverts where you are clearly pouring the milk over the Weetabix.”
However, some appeared interested in the new way of tucking into breakfast.
They confessed: "I’m going to try it, you never know - it might be a breakfast breakthrough?"
Weetabix doubled-down on its controversial method earlier today with a post titled “How to correctly prepare Weetabix”.

It clearly showed milk being poured into the bowl before two servings of Weetabix are placed to sit for around 20 seconds.
Elaine Wan, assistant brand manager at Weetabix, told The Daily Star: “The debate of milk or Weetabix first is something our fans love to stake their claim on, and the jury is still out.
“The big question? Is there a right way to eat Weetabix? Well traditionally, it’s always been Bix first, then the milk, but we believe rules were meant to be broken and sometimes you’ve got to switch it up.
“Putting the milk in first means you can keep your Bix crisp and crunchier for longer so it’s really a preference on texture.

“That said, we’re happy to let our fans decide on how they eat theirs. When it comes to Weetabix, anything goes.
“Remember, we are the brand who put Beanz on their Bix!”
Wan’s final remark was in reference to a previous post which saw two pieces of Weetabix covered in Heinz baked beans.
