A style influencer has shared two hacks to elevate a monochrome neutral outfit

Age-related fashion restrictions are a common misconception, as there are no rules dictating what anyone can or cannot wear based on their age.

It's important to embrace personal style at all stages of life as this helps people feel more confident and comfortable.

Fortunately, stylists with years of experience in the fashion industry have acquired small tips to help elevate any look.

Deirdre Nicholas, of 50 & Fabulous with My Friend Deirdre, believes a couple of style tricks can enhance a monochrome neutral outfit.

Top-to-toe beige looks have enjoyed unwavering popularity over the years, and they look incredibly sophisticated when done properly.

While Deirdre is a big fan of the trend, she warns that it can leave people looking like a ‘dried tea bag’ if there are no contrasts in texture.

She said: “I love neutrals. I am a neutral girl, and I really am. They can look fabulously elegant and polished, and I’m definitely not giving them up anytime soon."

She cautions that wearing neutrals with “no difference in texture" or "no element of colour,” can be unflattering, however.

“This can just make us look a little bit older and a bit boring,” Deidre declared.

“At its most extreme, it can make us look a little bit like a dried-out teabag.”

“I think this is especially a danger with beige, particularly with the whole tea bag look,” noted Deirdre.

Adding a small pop of colour is an easy way to make an all-neutral or monochrome outfit look more lively, and this can be done in various ways.

“This could be done with a bag or with shoes, or even with a scarf," explained Deirdre.

Alternatively, women can wear a bright red lipstick.

Elsewhere in the video, Deirdre explained that wearing the correct bra size is crucial for appearance because it significantly changes the silhouette.

"When you buy a bra, see if you can get yourself fitted," Deirdre told viewers.

"Even if you buy them online, try them on when they get to you, with a very critical eye," she said.

"Make sure there's no spillage, that they fit properly, and that they perk you up. It tends to be ageing if you've got a saggy bra."

She advised paying attention to the gap at the top of the cup, as these features often need adjustments.
