Dressing in your 40s
Steven said: "In your 40s, focus on building a wardrobe with a strong foundation of well-tailored essentials like great blazers, trousers and dresses.
"Shoes and accessories can be where longevity is challenged, so here's where you should take more risks. Investment pieces pay off, elevating your everyday look with an air of sophistication suitable for both professional settings and casual outings."
Dressing in your 50s
He added: "Moving into your 50s, comfort becomes more important for some, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing style. Look for pieces that blend comfort with elegance - think cashmere sweaters, silk blouses and well-fitting denim.
"Accessories play a key role here; choose statement pieces like bold watches or distinctive jewellery to add a personal touch to your outfits."
Dressing in your 60s
"In your 60s, continue to emphasise classic styles but keep an eye for details that offer a modern twist," the expert explained.
"It’s about balancing timeless appeal with current elements to create a look that respects your age and is vibrant.
"Layering works wonderfully, as do subtle prints and rich textures that add depth to your outfits without overwhelming them."
Finding good basics will see women through the years and help them to put together a slew of fashionable outfits with minimal effort.
