Poundland

The retailer will close its Chineham Shopping Centre store in just a few weeks.

The location in Basingstoke is set to close at the end of December, however it is bad news for Poundland shoppers.

This comes as the retailer has expanded, opening and relocating 86 stores this quarter.

It will open and relocate 15 new branches this month and continue the conversion of Wilko-Poundland stores.

Poundland’s managing director Austin Cooke said: “We excitedly continue to open and relocate stores at pace so we can bring our best offer, including all-new clothing, chilled and frozen food to customers, existing and new.

“The monumental effort from our teams continues to amaze me, and it supports jobs and high streets right across Britain.

“That's 86 stores in 70 days that we'll have opened successfully, and no one should underestimate the effort and energy that our teams have put into delivering that achievement - I certainly don’t. It’s phenomenal!”

New Look

The British fashion brand has already closed more than 10 stores this year, with one more shutting in December.

The Shirley branch in Southampton will close this week, on Sunday December 3.

A New Look spokesperson told GB News: “As part of the normal course of business, New Look occasionally closes stores, while also undertaking relocations and new site openings.

“While some sites have closed recently, we have opened a number of new stores this year and we remain on the lookout for appropriate new opportunities across the country.”

Homebase

The DIY brand will also close one store for good on December 3.

The Southam Road store will shut this Sunday and the Finchley Road, London branch is set to shut on December 10.
