Add a variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet to nourish your skin from within
Fruit offers scores of benefits to the skin thanks to its unique nutritional profile.
While all types of fruit contain nutrients, some are more hydrating than others thanks to their higher-than-average water content.
Generally speaking, the higher a fruit's water content, the more hydration it provides to skin cells.
Jeylan Bhola, facialist and founder of My Bare Skin said: “Incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet to nourish your skin from within.

“These nutrient-rich foods provide essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that support skin health and overall well-being.”
One of the most delicious nutritional powerhouses, watermelon, does wonders for the complexion thanks to its antioxidants.
“Watermelon, in particular, is highly beneficial for hydration due to its high water content, which helps to keep your skin supple and moisturised,” explained Jeylan.
“Additionally, watermelon contains lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that provides natural protein against UV rays and helps prevent sun damage.
“Including a diverse array of colourful fruits and vegetables in your meals can help enhance your skin’s radiance, improve elasticity, and protect against environmental stressors.
“Foods like berries, leafy greens, carrots and citrus fruits are excellent choices that contribute to a healthy, glowing complexion.”
Vitamin C - whether eaten or applied topically - helps the body make collagen, a protein that keeps skin supple and hair strong.
According to Healthline, a higher intake of vitamin C from food or supplements “can decrease the chances of developing wrinkles and dry skin”.
Vitamin A is also important for healthy skin because it helps create and repair the skin cells in the body.
Because lycopene in the fruit protects the skin from the sun, making it less likely that you’ll suffer a sunburn.

Don’t skip sunscreen, however, as the extra barrier of protection is essential for keeping the skin healthy.
“Sun protection factor should become your new best friend, as it is crucial to apply SPF 30 or 50 daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays,” noted Jeylan.
“These rays can cause premature ageing, sunburn and increase the risk of skin cancer.
“To save time in your skincare routine, consider using a moisturiser with built-in SPF.”
