A sexagenarian told GB News how she maintains a youthful look without going under the knife

While ageing is a gift and certainly nothing to be ashamed of, many women are keen to turn back the clock.

For those who want to look younger than their years, developing a good skin care regime is paramount.

GB News spoke exclusively to a 61-year-old about the products that help her maintain a youthful, glowing complexion.

Sexagenarian C. Lee Cawley revealed that she swears by two staples: sunscreen and moisturiser. These can be applied individually or as a hybrid product.

'I am told that I look much younger than 61 and a half'

The skin care enthusiast said: "I am told that I look much younger than 61 and a half. I have not had surgery or even tried Botox.

"When people ask, 'What's your secret?', I think it is that I have worn moisturiser with sunscreen in it daily since [university].

"I don't spend a fortune on skin care; I've been using Olay for decades now since I can buy it at Costco."

While C. Lee swears by the skin care brand Olay, there are countless moisturisers out there targeting specific concerns such as sensitivity, dryness and ageing.

Moisturiser and sunscreen are hailed as non-negotiable products for both skin health and appearance.

Moisturisers provide hydration and lock in moisture, plumping the skin and making wrinkles appear less visible.

Sunscreen shields against sun damage, in turn, staving off photoaging and the acceleration of collagen breakdown.

Anti-ageing enthusiasts can either moisturise, then apply sunscreen as the final step in their skin care routine, or use a hybrid product that contains both.

The skin care experts at CeraVe stated: "Protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays with sun protection is essential in keeping your complexion looking healthy at any age.

"Conveniently, you can find SPF included in a variety of skincare products, like your daytime moisturiser.

"Facial moisturisers with SPF help simplify your daily routine by combining two skin care steps into one.

"They help to provide all-day hydration while helping to safeguard your skin against the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays."

The skin care gurus advised finding a moisturiser with built-in SPF 30 or higher. However, just like a standard sunscreen, moisturiser with SPF is not enough to protect yourself from the sun.

Staying in the shade and wearing clothes that cover the body is also important.

As for lifestyle habits, C. Lee admitted: "I'd like to say that I exercise daily, drink lots of water and only eat organic but all of those statements would be a lie."

She does wear makeup though, which "certainly helps cover the dark circles".

For mature ladies looking to harness the anti-ageing power of makeup, a celebrity makeup artist shared the concealer trick that takes 10 years off her face.
