GB News is talking to experts on the most effective ways to reach your beauty goals. This week, a beauty specialist has discussed which ingredients to prioritise in skin care for supple skin
A consistent skin care routine is key to achieving a radiant complexion at any age, with neglect often leading to a dull and tired appearance.
While there are innumerable products to choose from on the market, one beauty expert believes only a few are worth splashing out on.
CEO at Beauty by Experts Medical, Mariia Chabdaieva, told GB News why vitamin C, retinol, and SPF are key components for maintaining youthful and elastic skin.
"These three create a solid foundation for preserving youthful, elastic skin," Mariia explained, whose expertise combines medical and aesthetic approaches to skin care.

The trio of ingredients works in harmony to combat various aspects of skin ageing, from collagen production to UV protection.
Vitamin C plays a crucial role as a powerful antioxidant, promoting collagen production to maintain firm and bright skin.
Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, works by increasing cell turnover and supporting collagen synthesis, which helps reduce fine lines and enhance skin texture.
SPF stands as perhaps the most vital component in the anti-ageing arsenal, according to Chabdaieva.
"SPF is absolutely necessary to prevent UV damage, which plays a major role in collagen breakdown and causes skin to age prematurely," she explained.
When combined, however, the ingredients work synergistically to protect and maintain skin health.
When it comes to treating different signs of ageing, the expert noted that wrinkles and sagging skin require distinct approaches.
"Wrinkling is really a superficial issue, whereas sagging relates more to deeper structural changes that involve the loss of collagen and elastin," Maria explained.
For sagging skin, she recommended formulations containing peptides and hyaluronic acid for deep hydration and plumping.
While retinol remains essential for both concerns, sagging skin may require additional treatments.
"Sagging sometimes does respond to in-office treatments like radiofrequency and ultrasound-based therapies that complement topical skin care," Chabdaieva noted.
Diet also plays a crucial role in maintaining skin elasticity and health, according to the beauty expert.
Antioxidant-rich foods like berries, green leafy vegetables, and nuts help combat free radicals that accelerate skin ageing.

Omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts support the skin's barrier function and maintain suppleness.
Additionally, foods rich in vitamin C, such as oranges and bell peppers, boost collagen production.
Hydration is equally important, with Mariia recommending water-rich foods like cucumbers and watermelons.
"Your skin can stay resilient and glowing through the years" with proper hydration and nutrition, she noted.
