The neck becomes a targeted area in many women's skin care routines over time, yet it is often neglected when earlier interventions could make a real difference.
Thinner dermis below the jawline contains fewer glands, making it more susceptible to the harmful effects of UV rays.
But skin care experts like Alex Pentecost, owner of The Skin Reverie in New York, noted there are several ways to "mitigate lines and maintain a youthful neck".
In terms of products, Alex recommends a neck cream with a thermogenic effect, alongside other active ingredients that promote cell turnover.

"[Use] retinol to encourage collagen production," she added.
For crepey skin, in-clinic treatments like micro-needling and chemical peels are recommended.
But she insisted that prevention is key, advising: "Always think about the future you, reduce the amount of time you spend looking downward (at a computer, phone or tablet), bring your skin care products down to your chest."
Board-certified dermatologist Dr Viktoryia Kazlosukaya agrees that early prevention is crucial.
She urged: "Don't skip your neck when doing your skincare routine - that's the simplest approach."
For treating crepey skin, Dr Kazlosukaya recommended a combination of treatments including "hyaluronic fillers, skincare boosters and lasers".
Celeste Lee, co-founder of Caire Beauty, also advises treating the neck with the same care as your face, highlighting the importance of key ingredients in neck skin care.
"Look for neck-specific creams or serums that contain peptides, retinol, or antioxidants," she told GB News. "These ingredients help boost collagen production and improve elasticity."
Daily moisturising is also essential, with Celeste recommending products containing "hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and shea butter".
She continued: "Use a mild cleanser and exfoliate gently once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and improve texture."

Lifestyle choices significantly impact the appearance of the neck and should therefore be prioritised, with experts noting that skin products can only do so much to conceal the effects of a poor diet and inadequate hydration.
"Drink plenty of water, eat antioxidant-rich foods, and avoid smoking, as these habits directly impact skin health and ageing," advised Celeste.
Regular massage with upward motions can improve circulation and maintain firmness. The Beauty enthusiast suggested using a Gua Sha or rose quartz face roller for these techniques.
Like Alex, Celeste reminded readers to "always wear your sunscreen" and exercise to keep skin and muscles tight.
With consistent care and professional treatments, they agreed that the neck appearance can be improved, though prevention remains the most effective strategy.
