The expert recommended applying eye patches while doing your makeup

Dark circles under the eyes can cause individuals to look tired and older, as the skin appears darker.

A makeup artist has shared the products she uses to "plump" up her skin and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Gemma spoke on the YouTube channel Pampered Wolf about how she reduces the appearance of dark circles.

She said: "Before my makeup application, I prepare the under-eye area a little bit further with a couple of eye patches."

The makeup artist uses eye patches that do not contain caffeine, and instead picks moisturising ones that "seriously hydrate the under-eye area".

Gemma explained: "The eye patches smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, creating a really beautiful canvas for your concealer to sit on.

"While the eye patches are doing their thing, move on to the rest of your makeup and remove them as soon as you are ready for concealer."

The content creator recommended using products that are "lightweight and very hydrating underneath the eye" to plump up your skin.

Gemma said: "The whole point of this process is to make you look fresher but still natural. If you want to look natural, less is definitely more. The fewer products you apply underneath the eye, the better it will look at the end of the day."

While a colour corrector is an excellent choice for reducing the appearance of dark circles, the makeup artist recommended "a concealer with full coverage".

The YouTuber said: "Trust me, there is a method to my madness. I apply the concealer to the palm of my hand to warm the product up and then very lightly apply a little bit of it to the stipple on the end of my brush.

"Just pat a little bit of the concealer over the areas of darkness. Do not drag the brush and go over it from side to side."

Once you have the concealer in position, "use the flat side of the brush" to push the concealer into the skin.

Gemma added: "Once the concealer is melted into the skin, just go from side to side and ensure everything is blended."

Another makeup artist has shared how she reduces the appearance of crow's feet by using a low-coverage cream concealer.

Jordyn Woodruff said on her YouTube channel: "I try to avoid liquid concealers. Instead, I only wear low-coverage concealers to reduce wrinkles around my eyes."
