The 87-year-old actress has lived in West London since marrying film and theatre director Tony Richardson

After decades of asserting herself on film and stage, Vanessa Redgrave has become one of Britain’s most recognisable faces.

The actress is one of few who hold the triple crown of acting, having received an Academy Award, a British Academy Television Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Primetime Emmy awards since making her West End debut in 1958.

The actress was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1967, according to the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

The website states that Redgrave subsequently advanced to “Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours List".

Over the past six decades, Redgrave has received countless more awards for her performances in televised and theatrical productions.

Today, the 87-year-old reportedly lives in one of London’s most peaceful neighbourhoods - Chiswick - with her actor husband Franco Nero, but she also owns a mansion in the neighbouring area of Hammersmith.

Home to some of the “prettiest parts” of London, it isn’t hard to see what drew Redgrave to West London.

Visitors can stroll along the picture-perfect canals of Little Venice or enjoy Hammersmith’s vibrant music scene at characterful venues.

Although the location is brimming with activities for all age groups, it has garnered a reputation as one of London's wealthier areas since luring upper-middle-class families with its tranquillity.

Some of the most desirable properties in the city sit along Hammersmith’s stretch of the River Thames.

Hammersmith is also famous for the Hammersmith Apollo, where some of the world’s most renowned entertainers regularly perform.

The area was also home to Vanessa's ex-husband, film and theatre director Tony Richardson, whom she was married to between 1962 and 1967. The pair shared two daughters.

Their eldest, Natasha Richardson, tragically died of a brain injury suffered during a skiing accident in 2009.

Their second daughter Joely Richardson, has enjoyed many years of success in the film industry, receiving Golden Globes for her award-worthy performances.
