Four tips could help speed up the sale of your home, according to property experts

Homeowners will want to achieve a quick sale while getting a good price for their property.

Remarkably, research has shown that 51 per cent of homes fail to sell within 10 months.

Not only is this frustrating for homeowners wanting to make a quick move, but properties that have sat on the market for a long time can attract lower offers.

So to avoid this happening, managing director of quick house sale experts Good Move Nima Ghasri shared four tips that can make Britons more likely to part with their cash.

There are ways to make a property sell more quickly

Forget it’s yours

The expert said: “Whilst cleaning, decluttering, and making sure your property smells nice often seem like obvious tips to help sell your property, you need to disassociate from it being your home and depersonalise.

"Buyers want to see a house that they can envisage themselves living in."

Consider a quick sale service

Nima continued: “There are both advantages and disadvantages to using a quick sale service, but when relocating, it can often be a sensible option to consider.

"However, make sure you choose a reputable service, as there are brokers in disguise who can be reliant on unpredictable investors meaning that you can end in a position where it becomes anything but a quick sale.

"A couple of red flags to look out for are no proof of funding or rushing you into a restrictive contract. You can still get up to 85 per cent of your property value and sell your property a lot quicker saving headaches, but get long-term money too.”

Make minor repairs

The expert added: “Arguably, there are certain repairs that don’t make financial sense as they could cost more to repair than they add value.

"However, fixing minor repairs around the home can hugely impact your property to buyers because they can see that the house is cared for properly.”

Temperature can make all the difference

Nima told homeowners: “Often overlooked, but temperature can make a huge difference to selling your home.

"Depending on when you’re wanting to sell your home, you need to make your home feel cool in the summer months, and cosy, warm and comfortable in the colder seasons.”
