Cleaning your home is key before conducting viewings, but a lick of paint could also be worth doing.
Experts have shared the paint colours that could deter buyers from making a higher offer.
Pink, black and yellow paints are the worst culprits, according to Ronseal's interior expert and brand manager Clara Dursent.
Pink and yellow can be overpowering colours and not to everyone's taste, so you risk putting potential buyers off.

GETTYClara said: "Pink gained a lot of popularity in the last two years after the success of Barbie.
"However, the colour is best kept in small doses rather than painted across an entire room as it can be quite an overpowering colour.”
Similarly, homeowners can miss the mark with yellow. The expert continued: "Yellow is typically regarded as a happy and uplifting colour.
"However, its intensity means overusing or incorrectly using it could put potential buyers off, so it's best to avoid painting every wall yellow, instead look to paint alcoves or upcycle furniture.”
Dark colours, like black, are trendy, but can also make the room feel smaller - which is the opposite of what many buyers are looking for.
Clara continued: “Black is a modern and sophisticated colour, used increasingly in interior decor in the past few years.
"It’s very good at making a home look cosy, but this can cause the room to appear smaller than it is, which is worth considering if you’re trying to sell your home.”
This comes as UK house prices increased across the UK. They edged up by 0.5 per cent in February, with some areas seeing much greater rises.

The latest Rightmove House Price Index found property prices were up the most in Scotland - at 3.5 per cent.
The average property price there is £190,425. Most regions saw house prices grow, but property in the North East and Wales dropped - with Wales down 2.7 per cent.
The highest average property prices are in London, at £688,885, and the most affordable homes are in the North East, at £190,124.
