Property values are slowly recovering across the UK and experts share how to ensure you get the most money for your home
Britons want to secure the highest selling price possible when moving out of their home.
Experts have shared how keeping on top of general maintenance in your property can boost its value by thousands of pounds.
A well-maintained home can be 10 to 12 per cent more valuable, according to an expert. The average UK home cost £282,000 as of January 2024 so the value could soar by as much as £33,840.
Luckily, store operations manager at Magnet Trade Paul Strong shared some jobs that are free to do that could increase the value of your home.
Tidying up a garden can make it more appealing to buyers

This can start in the garden. The front garden can be particularly important as research found that a home that is poorly presented from the outside could stop potential buyers from venturing inside at all.
Paul said: "In the garden, keep shrubs, hedges and climbers pruned to avoid any damage to brickwork on your external walls.
"Not only will this ensure the structural integrity of your home stays intact but it will also reduce moisture retention and increase airflow to reduce the chance of dampness when winter comes.”
Another thing that is worth doing but will not cost a penny is checking for any cracks around the home.
Filling small gaps around things like doors and windows will make it look more put together and also make it more energy efficient.
The expert said: "Look around all windows, doors and any other openings in your home's exterior.
"Caulk or weatherstripping can be used to seal any cracks and gaps, which can go on to help improve the efficiency of your home by slowing down heat escape, and also prevent pests like insects or rodents from entering your property.
"Regularly inspecting and maintaining these features properly ensures long-term protection and comfort within your home.”
The property market has been turbulent in recent months but house prices are up overall in the UK.
