The new data shared the top 10 areas for the quickest property sales

New data from Zoopla revealed that homes across England and Wales are typically on the market for 36 days before a sale is agreed upon.

The research highlights significant regional variations in selling times across the country. Northern regions of England consistently outperform southern areas in terms of speed of sale.


Homes in the North West and North East regions take an average of 32 days to sell, considerably faster than the national average.

These northern regions account for six of the top ten fastest-moving property markets in England and Wales.

Waltham Forest in North East London tops the national list, with properties there taking just 19 days on average to secure a buyer.

The research from Zoopla shared the significant variation in selling times across different locations, reflecting the complex interplay of supply, demand and pricing in local property markets.

The availability of homes for sale, price levels and buyer demand all play crucial roles in determining how quickly properties sell.

With an 11 per cent year-on-year increase in homes available for sale, setting the right price has become particularly important for sellers hoping to move in 2025.

Property owners in Denbighshire, Westminster and East Lindsey took the longest to sell

On the other hand, property owners in Denbighshire, Westminster and East Lindsey have found it difficult to shift their properties fast.

Properties in Denbighshire took 62 days to sell, in Westminster 61 and East Lindsey 59.

Zoopla's data revealed that homes requiring a price reduction of five per cent or more take almost twice as long to sell - an average of 43 days.
