Britons who have shopped at Temu are urged to check their purchases as water balloons have been recalled.

The items may have been bought as a stocking filler or gift, but customers are told not to use them.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) shared a warning today with more details on the threat.

Britons are told it could cause a "serious risk of injuries and choking".

The OPSS said: "The product presents a serious risk of injuries and choking as when tested, the product broke apart when minimal force was applied, allowing access to the magnets.

"These magnets were found to have a magnetic flux index greater than the maximum permissible level.

"Small, high-powered magnetic products can easily be swallowed and, when ingested, have the potential to cause serious internal injuries within the gastrointestinal tract.

"The product also requires improvement in marking, labelling and documentation. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Zoe supplementsThe potential presence of stones and metal has been identified as a safety concernWAITROSE

"OPSS has required the recall of the product from end users. Owners should stop using this product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Temu)."

Product recalls are not shared often but should be taken seriously as they alert the public to health and safety threats.

This comes as Waitrose recalled a health product over fears it contains "stones and metal pieces".

The recall affects all ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day products currently in circulation and a contamination has made the supplement unsafe to eat.
