The OPSS said: "The product presents a risk of electric shock as it has been identified that there is a manufacturing defect involving the UK plug adaptor.

"In some cases, this could cause the UK plug adaptor to break when the user attempts to remove the plug from the socket, leaving live pins exposed.

"If the user were to touch these live parts, they could receive an electric shock.

"The product did not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994."

Yoto has initiated a corrective action programme to provide replacement adaptors to owners.

Customers who have purchased the Yoto Player 2nd Generation should cease the use of the UK plug adaptor and access the Yoto product safety page to order a replacement Type G pin adaptor.

The OPSS stated: "For further details, and details on how to find out if your adaptor is affected, please access the Yoto FAQs.

"Once you have received a replacement UK plug adaptor, the original should not be used again.
