A facial cleanser sold in the UK has been recalled from end users as it presents a microbiological risk.

Anyone who has purchased Nuagé Ceramide Gentle Cleanser - available via Amazon and other retailers - should cease using it immediately.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated: "The product contains an excessive level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria (measured values up to 490 000 cfu/g).

"If used on damaged skin, or if in contact with the eyes, the product may cause infection or irritation.

"The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 or the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013.

"The product has been recalled from end users. Consumers are advised to stop using the product and return the item to the retailer from whom they purchased the product as soon as possible.
