OPSS

The Snuggla King Size Electric Blankets are not safe to use and have been recalled from end users.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said: "The product presents a serious risk of fire and burns as it has been identified that the product is prone to overheating whilst in use.

"This could result in the product or the surrounding furniture catching fire, potentially leading to the consumer receiving burns.

"The instructions supplied were deemed inadequate and some of the required documentation/markings were not present.

"The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

"Consumers in possession of the affected blanket should stop using the product immediately and contact their place of purchase to seek redress."

Items are recalled when they are found to be faulty or if they pose a safety risk to users.

Amazon has an ongoing recall for Stanley travel mugs sold online that pose a "risk of burns".

The OPSS said: "The product poses a risk of burns as the lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use.

"Stanley 1913 has issued a voluntary recall of the Switchback and Trigger action travel mugs because the lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard.

"Stanley 1913 has asked all their customers currently in possession of the Switchback or Trigger Action travel mugs to immediately stop the use of these products."
