Britons have been told to stop using the products "immediately"

An urgent warning has been issued to parents and carers as baby sleeping bags sold in the UK could be dangerous.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) noted that the affected products - all sold online - pose a "serious risk of suffocation" due to two faults.

Some of the sleeping bags do not include arm openings, meaning a baby could slip down while unattended.

Other sleeping bags include a hood, which could cover a baby's head or face if they are left unattended due to the baby’s natural movement.

Shoppers were recently notified about harmful baby products sold on eBay, with officials now warning that sleeping bags from various online outlets pose the same risk.

The products were previously sold via Etsy, Fruugo, Grandado and eBay and were listed as clothing, textiles and fashion items.

Britons who have already purchased the affected items have been told to "stop using them immediately".

Instead, they should contact the distributor from which they were purchased to request redress.

Officials assured shoppers that the items have all been removed from online marketplaces.
