The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) advised those who have purchased the air fryers to "stop using them immediately" and unplug them from power supplies.
The affected models were sold by several major UK retailers, including Tesco, Argos, B&M Bargains, Poundland and Robert Dyas. They were also sold via the Tower Housewares website.
The OPSS confirmed that the products do not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Therefore, a formal product recall from end users is now in effect.
"The product presents a risk of fire as it can overheat and ignite during use," officials warned.
Britons can check if they have an affected model by examining the appliance rating label.
For refund or replacement information, customers can visit the Tower Housewares webpage, where an official recall notice is displayed.
This notice reads: "We have become aware that a small number of Tower Air Fryers have a manufacturing defect which may result in overheating that, under certain circumstances, could pose a risk of fire.
"The fault has been deemed low risk by Trading Standards, however, the safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority, and we have made the decision to voluntarily recall these models as a precautionary measure."
