Using a fruit and a vegetable on your skin can improve hydration and reduce wrinkles, an expert explains

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is great for the skin as it provides essential nutrients and vitamins.

Putting these onto your skin directly can also have great benefits, an expert claimed.

Opting for products containing broccoli and avocado could be the secret to glowing, healthy skin, experts at Tropic Skincare stated.

They said: "It’s a well-known fact that to look and feel your best it’s recommended you eat your five-a-day.

"Organic leafy greens have long been seen as the epitome of achieving a healthy glow, but can you really get the best skin of your life by just eating them?

"Broccoli and avocado in particular are proven to not only contain pollution-fighting antioxidants, but they are also full of vitamins C and A, preventing oxidative stress, wrinkles, and dryness when used as part of your skin regime."

The green foods are packed with vitamins that have been known to brighten the skin and reduce the signs of ageing.

A study published in the National Institutes of Health showed vitamin A (retinol) improved fine wrinkles in a study of 36 elderly subjects with an average age of 87.

Vitamin C has been shown to prevent premature skin ageing and neutralise free radicals that lead to oxidative stress - a sign of dull, tired-looking skin.

CEO and founder of Tropic Skincare Susie Ma shared more on the benefits of introducing certain foods into our skin care routine as well as diet.

She said: “While we absorb many of the essential vitamins our bodies need from our diets, using products that contain concentrated forms of these nutrients can help target your skin concerns.

"Similar to drinking an organic smoothie, I recommend using skin care that also has these greens in the top line of their ingredients list to ensure you see their maximum youth-enhancing benefits.

This comes as one woman, 57, shared the nighttime routine that kept her neck "smooth" and free of wrinkles and jowls.

She said: "Number one is the derma roller, it’s been amazing to reduce the fine lines.

"I used to have these little bumps that even the facialist [couldn’t remove], and they were gone within two treatments.

“It’s really about nourishing yourself. Nourishing your mind, nourishing your body, nourishing your emotions.”
