Brand new "73" number plates were unveiled earlier this month in keeping with tradition

Apprentice star Tom Skinner has unveiled a new personalised number plate just days after major changes were introduced.

Skinner, who has a large following on his social media channels, posted on his Twitter account a new number plate after purchasing it at auction.

The businessman is known for his “bosh” catchphrase and admitted that he couldn’t let anyone else get their hands on the customised number plate.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “The number plate ‘A BO5H’ came up on the DVLA auction the other week and I was 100 per cent not letting anyone else buy it.

“The paper work has finally got to me. I’ve put it on one [of] my favourite cars in my little collection, my old Mercedes SL.

“I like to call her the pub cruiser, because she basically cruises to the pub with the roof down and then stays there until I pick her up again.”

He ended the post with two more laughing emojis, his trademark sign-off “Bosh” and a red heart.

Many in the comments were supportive of Skinner’s number plate choice, calling it “perfect” and “priceless”.

According to the DVLA Auctions website, the starting price for ‘ABO 5H’ was £350, with the final sale price totalling £2,710.

The next timed online auction will start on Wednesday, September 6, at 10am, and will end on Tuesday, September 12.

More than 2,500 registrations will be available for as little as £70 starting price, or as much as £2,500.

This includes shorter plates like ‘2005 A’ and ‘2022 C’, longer plates like ‘BAZ 9955’ and more unique registrations like ‘VIG 1’.

This comes just days after new number plate changes were rolled out across the country.

On September 1, the new “73” plate was unveiled after the introduction of the “23” plate in March earlier this year.

This has been the system of operation for number plates since 2001, with drivers set to see “24” and “74” plates next March and September respectively.

Industry experts had warned that motorists could potentially lose money on their vehicles if they did not sell before the September 1 deadline.

Vehicles can lose value quickly once new number plates are released as it is a clear indicator of age, resulting in drivers looking at other vehicles which have a more recent number plate.
