This included experimental treatments and a trial of intense chemotherapy, Suzan penned in a column for Great British Life.
He responded well to the treatment and, despite the original diagnosis, Noddy is "feeling good and looking great" years later.
Oesophageal cancer affects the food pipe and can vary in seriousness.
It is found more often in men than women and typically affects those in their 60s and 70s.
Symptoms of the illness include swelling, feeling or being sick, heartburn or indigestion, NHS reports.
It can also present itself in a persistent cough, loss of appetite and pain in the throat or in the middle of the chest.
The best treatment will depend on where it is and if it has spread.
Common treatments can include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and medicines.
