Naga Munchetty has opened up on her health condition

Naga Munchetty spoke about a womb condition that left her in agony for years.

She detailed her battle with adenomyosis and how it was dismissed for many years.

Adenomyosis is a condition where the lining of the womb buries into the muscle in the wall of the womb, NHS explains.

Symptoms of the illness can make day to day living more difficult as it can cause a lot of pain.

Such symptoms include severe cramping, pelvic pain, bloating and painful menstrual cramps.

Naga appeared in front of MPs today to speak about what the condition meant for her.

She said it began when she was 15 and she lived with the pain until she was given a diagnosis. This did not happen until she was 47.

The presenter spoke to the Women and Equalities Committee to help with an enquiry into women's reproductive health.

Naga explained she was often in pain but "I’d still go to school, I still went to work. Whenever I went to the doctor I was told it was normal".

The 48-year-old said she would deal with terrible pain and worried about bleeding through her clothes.

She previously spoke about the pain and said how it would leave her screaming in agony.

"The pain was so terrible I couldn't move, turn over, sit up," she told BBC Radio 5 in May. "I screamed non-stop for 45 minutes."

She spoke as part of an inquiry that could result in advice to the Government on how to diagnose and treat certain conditions more effectively.

This comes as Britons are warned about avoiding check ups.

Many could live with serious health problems if they believe they are too busy to attend appointments they are invited to.

A warning was shared for Britons who have used over the counter tests, as these can show false results up to 80 per cent of the time.
