According to a beauty enthusiast, when it comes to concealer, less is more
Makeup can be an excellent tool for looking your very best no matter what your age, accentuating your best features and disguising what you may consider imperfections.
A makeup enthusiast shared how women over 40 can get the most out of their makeup products, giving her top tips on using concealer. She advised against using too much product as this can appear "heavy" on the face.
Mandy Carroll (who goes by MandyLea from @MandyLeaBeauty) offered her makeup expertise to women over 40 who may not have picked up tips and tricks over the years.
In a YouTube channel on makeup "secrets" for women, the beauty enthusiast said: "I do get a lot of questions from women - usually my age, around the age of 40 - that may have not worn much makeup when they were younger, they had perfect skin and could just throw on some mascara and head out the door.

"As they get older, they're finding themselves wanting to know more about using makeup but they don't really know where to start."
Providing some insight for makeup novices, Mandy said: "My number one tip for women over the age of 40 is to only apply concealer if and when and where you need it.
"And do not apply too much - you do not need a lot. It is a high-coverage product, so you don't need to layer too much on."
Gesturing under her eyes, she said: "I see a lot of women - especially ones that really like the full glam look - just swiping large swipes of concealer in certain areas.
"I cannot get away with doing that - it will look way too heavy on me."
Instead, Mandy dots concealer only where she "needs" it. While this can mean several areas around the face, it is a "strategic" application as opposed to simply concealing everywhere.

The makeup enthusiast revealed that she conceals the shadows by the inner corners of her eyes, and areas of discolouration such as her upper lip and eyelids, plus any pigmentation on her face she may spot.
However, she avoids using concealer directly underneath her eyes, as the product can seep into fine lines and draw attention to them.
