Concealer can temporarily tackle signs of ageing if you perfect your technique

While ageing skin is nothing to be ashamed of, makeup can provide a quick fix if you're looking to knock a few years off your appearance.

A 75-year-old beauty enthusiast and former model shared the two concealer rules she follows every time for a flawless finish.

For great results, she urged fellow makeup enthusiasts to ensure they select the right colour and blend it well.

In a video on "makeup magic for women over 50", YouTube creator NewAgeBeauty revealed that she uses concealer to cover the dark circles under her eyes.

Dark circles, along with fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, undereye bags, sagging, dryness, age spots and puffiness, are some of the most common signs of ageing around the eyes.

While concealer can't reverse these changes, it can temporarily tackle some of the signs of ageing.

The youthful septuagenarian has been using a product by Clé de Peau Beauté for around 40 years, calling it a "second skin" that "covers everything".

However, there are countless concealer options out there available at makeup and beauty retailers.

NewAgeBeauty shared that she applies concealer to a small brush before transferring this to her skin.

She said: "I apply it right under the eyes and on the dark spots. The whole goal is to cover wherever the dark areas are under the eyes.

"I know that a lot of people say less is more but I don't believe that - I believe more is more."

The makeup enthusiast added a caveat though, explaining that "more is more" only works if you adhere to two rules.

She instructed: "Whatever you're putting on your face needs to be the right colour and you need to blend it well."

Explaining why she's in favour of "more is more" makeup, the YouTuber explained that using too little can appear "uneven" and in turn, "less natural".

She added: "There are a lot of people who believe that the older you get, the less you should wear. And I really disagree with that - I think you just need to be careful that it's blended in nicely."

While concealer can disguise undereye ageing, eyeshadow can make your eyes pop.

According to a makeup artist, women can defy ageing with a quick eye makeup technique that makes them look "awake, bright and youthful".

Indeed, she praised neutral shades and shared how they can work wonders with the right products and application techniques.
