Applying lip liner when your mouth is "at rest" could result in a jagged appearance
Lip liner is a staple in many women's makeup bags, used for defining and shaping the lips, filling in uneven areas and creating a crisp age when wearing lipstick.
However, while the product is extremely popular, not everyone is getting it quite right. According to a celebrity and editorial makeup artist, one simple trick could massively elevate your smile by taking your lipline from jagged to smooth.
Taking to YouTube, Nikki (also known as Makeup By Nikki La Rose) shared her top tips that will "change your makeup".
Offering some lip liner advice, the expert shared how to get a perfectly smooth, straight line that guarantees definition.

Nikki told her viewers: "This is going to make it so much easier to apply your lip liner.
"If you're someone who struggles with getting a smooth, even line with your lip liner, this is what I want you to do - it's a game-changer."
Instead of applying lip liner when your mouth is open, the makeup guru advised women to make it "taut".
Demonstrating applying lip liner with her mouth "at rest", the expert stated: "Because my lips are not taut and because they're not stretched in any way, the skin is really loose and there's a lot of wiggle room.
"If you're having trouble getting a smooth line, you don't want to have any wiggle room."
Next, Nikki demonstrated applying lip liner with her lips "gently smiling".
She said: "You're going to stretch your lips and therefore get a smoother application because your skin on and around your lips - your whole mouth area - is going to be more taut."
This simple trick makes it "easier to get a straight line" rather than an over-drawn one, contributing to the perfect pout.
