"If you don't want your skin to look like it's ageing, please follow these tips and tricks"

Makeup can be transformative when applied correctly, flattering a woman's best features and even making her look years younger if that's what she desires.

However, the wrong application techniques can leave you looking a little worse for wear.

Model and beauty enthusiast, Abby Netty, took to YouTube to share the makeup trends that "ruined" your makeup in 2024. She advised ditching your black mascara in favour of brown.

She said: "We're being taught so many things and so many ways, tips and tricks to make your face look younger - and you have it all wrong.

"I've been a model for the past seven to eight years and I've been in a makeup chair with professionals doing my makeup constantly.

"And I'm seeing the things that they're doing and the way the styles have been changing, but the way social media has been teaching people to do their makeup is all wrong.

"If you don't want your skin to look like it's ageing, please follow these tips and tricks. I swear by them."

The model shared that she even taught her 63-year-old mum her hacks and has already spotted a massive difference in how her makeup looks.

For bright and beautiful eyes, Abby curls her eyelashes and then applies mascara.

While many women opt for black mascara, applying the product to their upper and lower lashes, the model revealed that this is not her go-to method.

According to the model, this application method is best paired with a full-glam look. This is because it is "thicker" and "a little bit too much".

Consequently, for her everyday makeup look, Abby opts for a lick of brown mascara and only applies this to her top eyelashes, using a spoolie to remove any clumps.

She said: "For my complexion and my hair colour, for my face, I love using more of a brown."

Indeed, she explained that she likes going for "softer, gentler" colours that are still dark without being black.

Indeed, a second makeup enthusiast revealed that brown mascara has been game-changing for her too.

Fashion and beauty magazine editor turned YouTuber, Leonie Barlow, said: "It's just a little bit kinder, a little bit softer - but still does the trick to highlight and give your lashes a bit of a wow factor."

There are so many ways women can harness the power of makeup to revamp their look.
