Concealer is a product all beauty enthusiasts will be familiar with. However, not everyone knows how to apply it correctly.
According to an expert, mature women make a particular faux pas that leaves them looking "dry and cakey".
A makeup artist, who goes by @onqmakeup on TikTok, shared the "most common mistake women are making" with this product.
As we get older, the skin starts to display visible signs of ageing such as under-eye bags, dark circles and age spots.

For this reason, mature women may be keen to "cover up" more, meaning they end up using too much of the product.
According to the makeup artist, the "most common mistake" women make is choosing a concealer that is too light and applying "way too much" of it.
Slathering heaps of concealer underneath her eye straight from the bottle, the expert said: "It's hard to blend out, and it's going to look dry and cakey."
While the makeup guru believes that using a far lighter colour is a mistake, she does recommend going for "one shade lighter" - something that is "a lot closer to your skin tone".
Applying the product to her hand before "buffing" it under her other eye, she said this makes for a "much more natural" look.
Using this method means you can apply much less product and be more strategic about where it goes.
The makeup artist concluded: "This looks so much better - I'm sure you can see the difference."
Beauty experts from No7 provided some top tips on choosing the correct concealer shade for you.
They said: "To hide imperfections and blemishes, concealer should match your skin tone and undertone, seamlessly blending into the skin.
"To reduce the appearance of dark circles, though, apply a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone.
