How you shape your eyebrows matters considerably for your appearance

Your eyebrows play a significant role in your appearance, as they frame your face and help you create a more youthful look.

However, one makeup artist noticed that several people do not consider their eyebrows and fail to recognise that they could be "ageing" them.

Dermatologist Dr Sam Ellis spoke on her YouTube channel (@DrSamEllis) about how women can "rejuvenate their brows" by altering their techniques and products.

Dr Ellis said: "When a patient comes in for a cosmetic consultation, we are talking about parts of their face that dissatisfies them, and they have not recognised that their ageing eyebrows are contributing to that overall picture.

"When talking to patients about easy anti-ageing bits they can do, eyebrow rejuvenation is part of that conversation."

The expert recommended using two different types of products to help shape and fill out your brows.

She advised: "Most people benefit from a pencil to fill in the hairs and a brow gel to comb through the hairs and hold them in place."

Dr Ellis recommended using an eye pencil with a small spoolie and a fine tip to "get a general idea of the shape and create little brush-like strokes to fill in your brows".

You want to use the eye pencil to "mimic the hair", so it appears natural; however, how you shape your brows matters considerably.

Dr Ellis said: "One of the best things you can do if you are going to use makeup on your eyebrows is to update the shape to match the current trends.

"If you are rocking pencil-thin eyebrows from the 80s, it will age you. Take it with a pinch of salt because you do not want a brow that does not suit your face."

The makeup artist recommended going for a "fuller, fluffier brow" to suit your "face much better and be far more flattering".

Another "huge" mistake individuals make with their eyebrows is filling them in with a colour or tone that is too warm.

She advised: "Even if you are a warm red or brown, a cooler tone in your brows tends to be more flattering."

Another makeup artist who helps women in their 70s named a product swap for a more youthful appearance.

Dr Stephanie Taylor, who is a senior consultant at MedPak Solutions, said exclusively to GB News: "I've worked with everyone, from teenagers to individuals in their 70s. My top makeup tip to you? Less is more."
